Treatments for Mesothelioma

There are a number of treatments available to the mesothelioma victim but as with all cancers the earlier the diagnosis the higher the chances of success.  Treatment for mesothelioma could include any of the following or a combination of:-

Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy, Drug Therapy, Lung Transplant or Thoracic Surgery, Biological therapy, Palliative therapy and Biological therapy

Mesothelioma Drug

Alimta was approved in 2004 for use in the USA for patients with malignant mesothelioma. Alimta is frequently used in conjunction with cisplatin to treat mesothelioma patients.  Tests suggest that the drug combination extends patient life expectancies 

Onconase is a drug being tested in clinical trials and is encouraging in terms of increasing the survival rate of mesothelioma cancer patients. More research is being conducted to determine whether or not Onconase is an appropriate drug therapy for mesothelioma patients.
